Apple has officially refreshed its “affordable” lineup with the launch of the iPhone 17e in India. Succeeding last year’s iPhone 16e, the new 17e model brings several “Pro” level features to a more accessible price point, including a massive jump in base storage and the long-awaited return of MagSafe for this series.
The device is now available across Apple Store online, retail partners, and major e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.
1. The Biggest Upgrade: 256GB Standard Storage
In a move that caught many by surprise, Apple has officially doubled the base storage. While the iPhone 16e started at 128GB, the iPhone 17e now starts at 256GB as the entry-level option.
- Better Value: Despite a slight price hike in the base MRP (from ₹59,900 to ₹64,900), the cost-per-GB has actually decreased, making it a better long-term investment for users who store lots of 4K videos and high-res photos.
- Storage Variants: * 256GB: ₹64,900
- 512GB: ₹84,900

2. Performance: A19 Chip & C1X Modem

The iPhone 17e doesn’t compromise on power. It is equipped with the same A19 chipset (3nm) found in the standard iPhone 17.
- Speed Boost: The 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU offer a 30% graphics improvement over the previous generation, making it highly capable for “Apple Intelligence” features and AAA gaming.
- Connectivity: It features the new C1X 5G modem, which Apple claims is twice as fast and more power-efficient than the modem in the 16e, leading to better battery life during heavy 5G usage.
- RAM: It comes with 8GB of RAM as standard, specifically to support advanced on-device AI tasks in iOS 26.
3. Design & Display: Ceramic Shield 2
While the 17e retains the classic 6.1-inch form factor with a notch, its durability has seen a significant upgrade.
- Ceramic Shield 2: The front glass is now 3x more scratch-resistant and features improved anti-reflective properties for better visibility under direct sunlight.
- MagSafe is Back: One of the biggest complaints about the 16e was the lack of MagSafe. The 17e fixes this, allowing for 15W fast wireless charging and compatibility with the entire ecosystem of magnetic wallets, stands, and chargers.
- Colors: Available in three fresh finishes: Soft Pink, Pearl White, and Midnight Black.
4. Camera: 48MP Fusion System
The rear camera hardware sees a refined 48MP Fusion sensor.
- 2x Optical Quality Zoom: By cropping the high-resolution sensor, Apple provides a “virtual” telephoto lens that delivers sharp 12MP photos at 2x zoom without needing a dedicated third lens.
- Selfie Camera: A 12MP front-facing camera with improved Night Mode and Deep Fusion for clearer video calls.
